Welcome to Mapless Adventures! My name is Nicole. I’m a solo-female traveler living life without a mapped out plan! No plan. No map. Just life. The good, the bad, the ugly. This is the real me. My Mapless Adventures!
Growing up I had this plan: go to college, graduate college, get a job and live in Arizona. Totally Mapped OUT. Then in 2011, my graduate school graduation came and my life came to a screeching halt. I was at a complete loss for my future. Would I go back to Iowa with all my college friends, stay in my hometown in Arizona or go some place very new and exciting?
Thankfully, my journey before this moment, lead me to studying abroad for three months to Italy, one month of traveling Europe, traveling down to Nicaragua on a Speech Language Pathology specific Mission Trip, a two week Harley Davidson Daddy-Daughter Road Trip from AZ to ID, and countless other random excursions around the USA and Canada. These guided me to believe that I could take on any challenge, experience and adventure head on.
Because of these past experiences, leading up to my departure into the “REAL” world, I chose to accept an opportunity to leave my comfort zone of Arizona and move to the Washington in the Pacific Northwest. This is where the journey of Mapless Adventures began.
It was 2012. I remember sitting on the floor of my apartment thinking of a fun, unique way to “journal” my trips, my travels, and my adventures. I remember talking with a friend about her blog and the next thing I knew, Mapless Adventures was born! It’s been SIX years since it’s inception and my life has been filled with countless Mapless Adventures.
I bounced around a couple of times before landing in Seattle, where I resided for several years before deciding to embark on a new and total mapless adventure. I relocated to the island of Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands in the Caribbean where I completed my two years working as a speech language pathologist in special education.
Now, here I am living out my newest Mapless Adventure, and slight career change for at least a short while. I’m living in Thailand, working as an English Teacher at a local public high school. I’m still unsure of my final destination, but that’s all part of the mapless adventures!
I’m a certified Speech Language Pathologist, Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certified teacher, PADI certified advanced scuba diver, photography addict, outdoors enthusiast, Young Living Essential Oil distributor and love, a believer in God the heavenly father, volleyball playing athlete and coach, (grand)daughter, sister, and auntie to two nephews and a niece, taking on each mapless adventure as they present themselves.
